Our
goal was to develop a pizza restaurant on
campus that will leverage available local
agricultural resources, include a broad
spectrum of the community, and operate using
a minimum of cash resources. |
 |
|
Based
on the "cashless capitalism" concept, Jack's
Place utilizes ingredients from the
community including tomatoes grown in SIFE's
own garden. Bethel-SIFE negotiates with
local farmers for other vegetables and meat
products for pizzas. |
|
 |
We sell
pizza to college students and use pizzas to
pay suppliers for raw materials: dough,
sauce, and vegetables. Jack's Place partners
with the Tennessee Department of Human
Services to provide employment opportunities
for teenagers in foster care; the teens
learn important job skills. |
|
Through
Jack's Place, they learn work and
entrepreneurship skills by mixing dough
using mixers donates by a local Wal-Mart. |
